KG Pet Spray vs Cedarcide Original: What’s the Difference?
Although both products help manage pests naturally, they work in very different ways — and are useful in different situations.
KG Pet Spray — Fruit-Enzyme Based
It helps with:

- odour control (pets, bedding, home)
The enzymes disrupt the insects’ outer coating so they can’t survive — but they don’t harm mammals, making the spray gentle and safe when used correctly. It can also be used on bedding, kennels and around the home.
Top Tip If your pet licks frequently, apply before walks or use a cone briefly so it can dry.

Insects hate cedar, and the oil:

Top Tip It is best to avoid spraying pets bedding with Cedarcide Original because the smell of cedar can be irritating to sleep on. But if you wish to spray and leave away from the pet for 8 hours to kill insects that may be on the bed, then do so.
There is not a set age for when the Cedarcide spray is suitable as it really depends on size and breed along with their weight. To be safe leave until 4 months old. Or at 2 months, use as a spot on, a dab on the back of the head and around the shoulder's daily to protect.
What the difference between the Tickshield vs Cedarcide Original?
Tickshield is simply a stronger version (20% cedar oil vs 10%).
Use it only on large dogs and adults — not suitable for cats, small dogs, or children.
It’s ideal for heavy infestations and outdoor protection.
Which is best if we have an infestation?
Both the Tickshield Spray and the Cedarcide Original can be used for an infestation of fleas, moths and other insects. Both will kill insects at all stages of life.
The Cedarcide kills fleas through:-
- Dehydration: It gradually dries them out
- Disrupting Their Pheromones: Which disrupts their ability to navigate, mate, searching for food, as well as to regulate bodily functions.
- Dissolves Them: Insects in earlier life stages—eggs, larvae, pupae—are extremely vulnerable, so vulnerable in fact that cedarwood oil can dissolve them on contact. In adult insects it gradually penetrate their shell.
- Emulsification: breaking down fat particles.
- Suffocation: the cedarwood oil can interfere with bugs' capacity to breathe.
As a result, they are unable to function properly and soon die.
Since this is a natural product rather than a chemical spray, the effects may not be immediate. It’s important to remain diligent by checking your dog after walks and during grooming. If the odd flea is spotted, it’s also crucial to treat your environment to break the life cycle of it them becoming a problem, as it can take many weeks to break the life cycle of the flea.
The Tickshield Spray is more concentrated is more suitable for a major infestation.
The Cedarcide Original can be used as often as is needed but is dependent on any person's / pets situation. The aim of the product is to repel or kill the fleas. Three times a day if fighting fleas (for the first 2 weeks only) in the home, early morning, lunch12pm, and early evening 6pm would be best, then twice daily and as often as needed to relieve or treat an area.
Each situation is very different, but a gentle spray or rub over ( for your pet) every 6 hours is a good base to begin with. Avoid the face or eyes.
If treating the home with either of these products, do a patch test near furniture and fabrics prior to treating a room.
If spraying liberally it is best to keep your pets and people out of that area for 24 hours, as it will evaporate off textiles over 24 hour period.
Apply along skirting boards and places you feel you're bitten or seem likely to have eggs or larvae there.
When using natural products, it takes diligence in using the product weekly to eradicate all the life cycles of the pest for good. Keep checking, as the environment and situation can differ.
Be aware with very bad infestation's it may take up to 6 weeks to break the life cycle of the flea or mite.
Can I use both the KG shampoo and the KG Spray?
Yes, lots of our customers like to bathe their dogs using the KG shampoo and use the spray before leaving the house, as an extra top up.
Please note that if your pet as a light coloured coat or is white fur and is sprayed with KG spray daily over a long period of time, it may have a build up of fibres causing an orange tinge. This will be from the Pineapple fruit enzymes, please brush and groom to remove the fibres or wash with a standard pet shampoo, this will remove the pineapple fibres completely. Brush and groom your pet daily.
For Kittens & puppies the KG spray can be used when they are 4 weeks + Spray onto an old sock and groom into the fur. Do not spray in the face and watch to see if they try to lick it off, distract for at least 15 minutes to allow it to dry naturally.
For older cats and dogs it is okay if they where the product has been applied, but if they lick continuously, it will make them thirsty and have loose stools, as this is concentrated fruit. Which in turn makes the product ineffective and waste of time, effort and money. One option is to spray your dog prior to a walk so that your dog does not lick it immediately and allows the product to dry. Alternatively you can use a protective collar which should be worn for 15 minutes to allow the product to work, as once it is dry it's completed the task required.
You can use KG Spray on all bedding as often as is needed on both your pets and your own bed, if your pet is allowed to sleep on your beds. Please do a patch test if using on fabrics and furniture. The KG spray is very gentle and safe to leave on any bed with no smell. It can be used anywhere around the home or around children and other pets.
It can also be used to for cleaning purposes such as you pets cage. In this instance apply weekly, spray once the pet is out of the cage and allow the cage to dry completely. If treating for mange or fleas infestations, KG spray can be used as a daily cleanse while the pet is out of the cage. Allow the area to dry naturally no need to rinse.
The KG Spray can also be used around the mother as a room cleanser when nursing. In this instance use the KG spray diluted 1 x10 and it will still work in its diluted form to help to cleanse the skin of insects, grime, dead skin cells, bacteria along with body odours too.
KG Wash and Go shampoo– Can also be used as a cleansing solution when diluted. For kennels and patio cleansing dilute KG wash and go shampoo concentrate formula 1 x 15, and scrub or brush the area, leaving it to dry naturally, no need to rinse. KG products, will still cleanse as a weaker strength but will take longer to work or kill an insect.
Also, if cleaning indoors food areas, spray leave for 3 mins and wipe away. KG spray can be used around food and meat to remove bacteria and grime safely.
Please note that these products cannot be used around snakes, spiders, beneficial insects or beehives.
