FAQs about Okinawa sea coral minerals
Where does Okinawa come from?: Okinawa is an island off the coast of Japan, interestingly known for the amazing longevity of many of the residents. The fossilised Sea Coral harvested for “okinawa” is from a very protected region off the coast of this island.
Does harvesting Okinawa Coral harm the coral reef?: This harvesting is conducted under very strict government regulations. Only already dead and fossilised coral is harvested. Thanks to the coral’s unique growth patterns – distinctive sideways projections, the careful co-ordination of the harvest is able to take place without damaging the live coral, but in fact gives space for the live coral to continue to grow and flourish. Meaning, the harvesting of the dead fossils is also good for the coral reef.
Is Okinawa tested for radiation, heavy metals and impurities?: Yes, every single batch is tested and comes out well below the requirements for a supplement for radiation and immurities. This is thanks to the tides of the area which naturally take any radiation or fall out away from the coral growing sites. If the product were ever to stop testing as clean and pure, The Health Factory would stop providing it. So far this has never been the case.
How much calcium and magnesium does The Health Factory’s Okinawa product have?
Coral is graded by Okinawans based on a high ‘magnesium content’. Our Okinawa coral is one of the highest in magnesium content having 11,000,000 mcg (11,000 mg) of magnesium in every 100 grams of coral.
The calcium levels in 100 grams of Okinawa minerals is 22,800,000 (22,800 mg) making the 2:1 ratio almost perfect. These 2 elements are present in a form that is fully bioavailable for the human body.
It is the only coral, of the 2,500 species in the world, whose composition is almost identical to that of the human bone. Surgeons around the world even use this coral for bone transplants!
How do you take Okinawa?: When the Okinawa is added to water, juice, mixed into yoghurt or sprinkled on food, the vast majority of all the minerals become ionic and can be fully absorbed and used by the body. When entering the stomach, a large percentage of the mineral becomes ionized and ready to be used by the body within 10-20 minutes
Why are minerals important?: Minerals are needed for all living cells as they provide structure and function for the cells. They are also needed for composition of body fluids as well as blood and function of the bone, teeth, muscles, supporting nerve function, muscle tone and cardiovascular system. Many minerals contribute to the body’s vital functions.
I was told not to take Calcium carbonate. Please clarify.: Some supplements may use a cheap low-grade calcium carbonate which is also used extensively as fillers in food products, cosmetics, dental products and many other supplements on the market. This calcium carbonate is mostly mined from Limestone and ground to size. Limestone deposits are abundant and so supplements made from limestone can be quite cheap. However, calcium carbonate in this form may be damaging to the kidneys and liver, especially if not balanced with Vitamin D3, magnesium and other essential and ionic minerals and trace elements. The ionic calcium carbonate in Okinawa is not in the same form, and has already been processed by a living thing (coral) and is in a form that our bodies can use. Actually eighty percent (80%) can be absorbed within 20 minutes. Okinawa does not have the same issues that mined limestone deposits have when ingested, and contains 75 trace minerals which are fundamental in our well being, especially bone health.
Why Consider Using Okinawa sea coral minerals?: The minerals from Okinawa sea coral are naturally occuring in a highly bioavailable form without human intervention or processing, meaning they are easily absorbed by the body.
They offer a balanced ratio of calcium and magnesium, which is crucial for maintaining strong bones and teeth.
Additionally, the broad spectrum of trace elements present in the Okinawa helps maintain the delicate mineral balance of our bodies, potentially offering a more holistic approach to nutritional supplementation.
Lastly, the minerals are sourced sustainably, thus providing an eco-friendly option for those concerned about environmental impact.
What is the recommended intake of Okinawa?
For regular adult use, an intake of 2 to 3 grams per day is recommended. This can be dispersed across 2 to 3 scoops and dissolved in water, juice, smoothies, or yogurt.
For ongoing maintenance, a reduced intake of 1 to 2 grams per day is advisable.
For young children, a much lower amount of 0.5 to 1 gram per day is recommended, equating to 0.5 to 1 scoops.
Follow the guidance on the label and/or your health professional.
The product can be applied directly to teeth if desired.
How Sustainable are Okinawa sea coral minerals?: Okinawa sea coral minerals are sustainably sourced, meaning they are eco-friendly. The minerals come from already dead and fossilised coral so no living coral is harmed. The clearance of fossilised coral actually allows for room and nutrients for new coral to grow and thrive in the sea. Each batch is thoroughly tested to make sure it’s free from any harmful toxins/pollutants. The product is also 100% wild harvested and doesn’t have any added chemicals or fillers. So, you can use these minerals knowing they are both good for you and good for the environment.
