Description
An exclusive cold-process artisan method extracts the oil and preserves the delicate nutrients that are naturally present in wild ratfish livers. The resultant oil is as pure and authentic as it was for our Nordic ancestors hundreds of years ago.
Rosita Real Foods provides pure, natural and premium Extra-Virgin oils. We do not use any heat, pressure or metal containers or treatment in the Rosita Method, and this is very important. These oils are very delicate and must not be heated, extracted through pressure or exposed to air or metal in the process. The fish and extraction process receive special treatment, with each liver inspected and only the best chosen and placed in a dark, oxygen-free environment. Great care is taken to monitor this process to ensure the oils retain their freshness and purity.
Rosita Premium Extra-Virgin Ratfish Liver oil has been revered above all other fish oils by Norwegian Vikings and Scandinavian fishermen for centuries. This very rare and uniquely handcrafted oil contains a wide spectrum of naturally occurring fatty acids, fat soluble nutrients and antioxidants.
Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT DOES RATFISH LIVER OIL TASTE LIKE?: Rosita Extra-Virgin Ratfish Liver Oil (RFLO) is a pure natural healthy product which has a mild, buttery taste. It is much less fishy tasting than their Extra-Virgin Cod Liver Oil. The oil will get absorbed easily with the taste dissipating quickly. Rosita RFLO liquid is a full spectrum fish liver oil. Unlike refined fish oils, RFLO contains many different fatty acids that thicken and separate when refrigerated. When chilled, the stearins, waxes and triglycerides may appear as particles, as a film, cloudy, or thick like gelatin. This is normal for a fresh, wild and raw fish liver oil. You may take the oils out of the fridge 3-5 minutes before use to allow them to evenly mix and to permit the efficient use of the dropper. This is particularly important for the 10ml dropper.
HOW IS THE OIL EXTRACTED FROM THE RATFISH LIVER?: Rosita Real Foods oils are pure natural premium Extra-Virgin oils. They do not use any heat, pressure or metal containers or treatment in the Rosita Method, and this is very important. These oils are very delicate and must not be heated, extracted through pressure or exposed to air or metal in the process. The fish and extraction process receive special treatment, with each liver inspected and only the best chosen and placed in a dark, oxygen-free environment. The oil is naturally released when the cod livers are exposed to temperatures slightly higher than the ocean, and great care is taken to monitor this process to ensure the oils retain their freshness and purity. Fish liver residuals are separated from the raw oil by use of a decanter and contaminants are removed without the use of heat or chemicals using a patented method and naturally occurring material. The oil is then placed in cold storage in the absence of oxygen and light, which keeps the oil fresh while it is tested for purity before being bottled.

Rosita products are sustainably sourced from wild fish stocks in the pristine waters of Norway. Rosita RFLO is a “living oil” derived from wild Chimera monstrosa, which are a non-commercial by-catch deep water fish species. It is produced in small batches sustainably harvested from the pristine waters of Norway.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF RFLO?: Rosita Real Foods Ratfish Liver Oil contains a complete range of raw omega fats including omega 3, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 11 fats. Rosita fish oils also contains a great natural source of Vitamin A and Vitamin D. They are free from synthetic nutrients and contains all of the potent, naturally occurring biologically active nutrients which make it effective, and in the exact form present in a living fish liver. For example, vitamin A is predominately in the retinol form and vitamin D is predominately in the cholecalciferol (D3) form. Choosing the natural form over a synthetic version means the nutrients are highly bioavailable and easy to absorb, digest and assimilate in your body.
DOES RFLO CONTAIN MERCURY OR OTHER CONTAMINANTS?: Rosita test every batch of oil produced for contaminants. At any time you may refer to their testing section for the test results for your particular batch. Testing is a very important part of Rositas commitment to quality and they conduct independent heavy metals testing including testing for mercury and lead. We also test for organic contaminants including dioxins and PCBs. It is our understanding that no other company tests each and every batch. This is a costly practice however we feel that the consumer has the right to demand the highest quality tested products.
IS ROSITA RFLO SAFE TO USE?: Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil contains the naturally occurring Omega fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins that would be found in a living fish. Every batch of RFLO is tested for contaminants before being bottled for sale. Independent third party testing has consistently shown that our oils are free of heavy metals and other organic contaminants such as dioxins and PCBs.

HOW DO I TAKE CARE OF MY RFLO?: The key thing to preserve your oil is getting it cold BEFORE opening it and using it within a few months after opening. The oil may become thick and cloudy when cold, gently shake the bottle before use. Care should be taken to keep the dropper untouched and free from pollutants as this could cause rancidity (e.g. mouth/saliva/skin contact may cause degradation of the antioxidants).
STORAGE PRECAUTIONS: Handcrafted, extra-virgin Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil™ will retain its full nutritional quality and flavour for a very long time after harvest, especially if stored properly. ROSITA guarantees that your bottle of Ratfish Liver Oil will be fresh upon purchase, because their oils are bottled in very small batches.
Light accelerates the rate of oxidation, causing oil to go rancid more quickly. For this reason, our oils are packaged in small dark glass bottles. These are best stored in a cool, dark, dry place, away from direct sources of heat and light. Care should be taken to immediately recap the bottle after each use. Opened bottles should always be stored in temperatures below 4-6 degrees Celsius (39-43 degrees Fahrenheit). Rosita Ratfish Liver Oil™ can be frozen for long term storage. The oil may become thick and cloudy when refrigerated or frozen: Gently shake before use.
Testing has shown that vitamins and other substances found in Rosita Extra-Virgin Ratfish Liver Oil™ are not affected by freezing and remain completely intact.
In order to prevent contamination and degradation of the oil, please ensure that you do not touch the dropper, or allow it to come into contact with any other objects.
