What are the key benefits of the nutrients included in MegaMag® PeriMeno?

What is the difference between MegaMag® PeriMeno Plus, and MegaMag® PeriMeno tablets?
New MegaMag® PeriMeno tablets are a convenient option for those on the go, however MegaMag® PeriMeno Plus, provided in powder form, provides a higher concentration of certain nutrients and is a great choice for those who prefer to consume their supplements mixed into a drink, or for use at home.
MegaMag® Perimeno Plus includes Vitamin C and botanicals like shatavari and red clover, traditionally used in women’s health, whereas our new tablets contain saffron extract, studied for its benefits in supporting mood and sleep. Both options offer effective support for perimenopausal symptoms, allowing you to choose the format that best fits your lifestyle and preferences.
Which perimenopausal symptoms does MegaMag® PeriMeno support?
MegaMag® PeriMeno tablets has been designed to help support a range of common symptoms of perimenopause and menopause particularly low mood, poor sleep, anxiousness, excessive sweating, ‘hot flushes’, restless legs as well as providing support for cognitive function, memory, and hormone regulation.
How does magnesium support menopause symptom relief?
Magnesium is an important mineral that could support a number of the side effects that come with menopause, including poor sleep, fatigue, and even hot flashes.
Sleep: Magnesium promotes calm to both mind and body before bed, and could support a more restful and restorative night’s sleep, particularly beneficial as it’s thought up to 60% of perimenopausal and menopausal women experience difficulty sleeping.3
Fatigue: A relatively common symptom during the perimenopause stage due to a drop in oestrogen levels. Magnesium plays a key role in energy metabolism and can help reduce feelings of fatigue and tiredness.
Hot flushes: One of the most common and uncomfortable symptoms of menopause, studies show that magnesium could help to reduce hot flushes.4
A woman’s magnesium levels may start to decline during menopause, so it’s crucial to replenish its stores.
Why is the form of magnesium important?
Just like the quality and amount of a nutrient, the form in which it’s provided is significant. We choose to provide magnesium in its glycinate form for our MegaMag® range (magnesium bound with glycine, a non-essential amino acid) because it’s one of the most bioavailable and absorbable forms of magnesium, therefore the most efficacious.
It’s also the least likely form to lead to loose stools, which means it’s a safe and convenient option for supporting a long-term health concern. The amino acid glycine, which is bound to the magnesium, also provides an additional benefit of helping to support sleep and relaxation.
My legs are twitching at night, can MegaMag® PeriMeno help with this?
It’s not just hot flushes and excessive sweating that can disturb your sleep during the perimenopausal and menopausal years, but restless legs too. Low magnesium levels during this phase of life can be responsible for muscle twitching and cramping, so supplementing with MegaMag® PeriMeno could help to support this.
What is an adaptogen and how does it help?
Adaptogens are a select group of herbs (and some mushrooms) that have been used for thousands of years in both Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine to support the body’s natural ability to deal with stress. MegaMag® PeriMeno features Ashwagandha, an adaptogenic herb which could help support mental resilience and wellbeing.
What’s the difference between the perimenopause & menopause?
Perimenopause is the first stage of the menopause process that can last around 8-10 years before a woman enters menopause itself, where she completely stops having a menstrual period. During perimenopause, a woman’s ovaries begin to produce less oestrogen and hormones fluctuate between high and low. The average age for this is 40 to 50.
The menopause is when a woman has not had a period for 12 months, at this age hormones become consistently low. The average age for menopause is between 45 and 55.
Postmenopause is the time after a 12 month cessation of periods where hormones will remain largely low, normally occurring for women aged 50 and older.
What does perimenopause do to your body?
During the perimenopause, levels of oestrogen in the body begin to rise and fall unevenly, causing your menstrual cycle to lengthen or shorten. You may begin having menstrual cycles in which your ovaries don’t release an egg (ovulate). You may also experience menopause-like symptoms, such as hot flushes, sleep concerns, mood changes and vaginal dryness
How long before I feel an effect?
There are a range of different ingredients in MegaMag PeriMeno which have been designed to combat a range of symptoms so it’s likely you will notice different symptoms reductions after different time periods.
For example, magnesium can support areas of health such as sleep, and some people may notice a difference in just a few days. Other ingredients, such as sage, which can support hot flashes, may take a little longer. Studies have shown that sage can decrease symptoms such as hot flushes after 4 weeks and 8 weeks1; and that Ashwagandha, at a dose of 300mg daily, has been shown to improve quality of life scores in menopausal women2.
This is highly dependent on the individual as well but we’d recommend taking MegaMag PeriMeno for a period of 8 – 10 weeks to ensure you are feeling the full benefits.
